I have always believed that forklifts are the best testing ground for new energy vehicles.
The reasons are not complicated. Forklifts are not passenger cars; they don't pursue extreme endurance, nor do they need to cater to highly dispersed individual users. Their operating conditions are more concentrated, their customers are more professional, their operating environment is more closed, their refueling paths are clearer, and their efficiency and costs are easier to measure realistically. They have both equipment and operational attributes; they can validate technology and business; they can achieve mass production and continuous review.
This means that any new energy technology route, once it enters the forklift scenario, must answer the most difficult questions: Is the product stable? Has efficiency been improved? Can the cost be balanced? Will customers repurchase? Can the service keep up?
That’s why forklifts are never an industry for empty talk. They naturally suppress all hype, expose all problems, and force all approaches back to the most basic reality.
One of the biggest problems facing hydrogen energy today is that too many projects aim for a " large and comprehensive " approach from the outset: talking about a trillion-dollar market, industrial clusters, city branding, and a complete industrial chain layout, without first thoroughly developing a specific niche scenario that is easiest to form a closed loop. The result is often a grand scale but shallow implementation; heavy investment but weak repeat purchases; many demonstrations but little substance.
The first lesson worth learning from forklift lithium batteries is this: any new energy route should first find a testing ground where a closed loop can be formed.
